Project Description
The Metolong Dam and raw water pump station project in Lesotho Kingdom required the construction of a 73m high roller compacted concrete dam, with a crest length of 210m.
It also involved impounding a 53 million m³ reservoir at the full supply level with a multi stage raw water intake and pump station, and a raw water transmission main from the dam to a downstream water treatment facility.
With the country having experienced droughts, the dam's development benefits half a million people and provides water to a third of the population of Lesotho.
